記者：4月初，習(xí)近平主席應(yīng)約同美國總統(tǒng)拜登通電話，雙方同意推進(jìn)外交等領(lǐng)域磋商機(jī)制以及兩軍溝通。中美近日舉行海上軍事安全磋商機(jī)制工作小組會(huì)議，美媒分析稱，這標(biāo)志著雙方重啟海上軍事對(duì)話。請(qǐng)問中方有何評(píng)論？下一步兩軍還將舉行哪些活動(dòng)？
Question: In early April, President Xi Jinping had a phone call with US President Joe Biden at the request of the latter. The two leaders agreed to advance consultation mechanisms in diplomatic and other fields as well as mil-to-mil communication. Recently, China and the US held the Maritime Military Consultative Agreement (MMCA) working group meeting, which, according to US media, symbolizes the resumption of bilateral maritime military dialogue. What’s your comment on this? What other activities will the two sides hold?
吳謙：近日，習(xí)近平主席應(yīng)約與美國總統(tǒng)拜登通電話，就中美關(guān)系以及雙方共同關(guān)心的問題坦誠深入交換了意見，為兩國兩軍關(guān)系發(fā)展指明了方向。為落實(shí)兩國元首重要共識(shí)，年初以來，中美雙方順利舉行了第17次中美國防部工作會(huì)晤，穩(wěn)步推進(jìn)查找美軍二戰(zhàn)期間在華失蹤人員遺骸相關(guān)工作。4月3日至4日，中美兩軍在美國夏威夷舉行2024年度中美海上軍事安全磋商機(jī)制工作小組會(huì)議。雙方在平等和尊重的基礎(chǔ)上，就當(dāng)前中美?？瞻踩蝿?shì)進(jìn)行了積極、建設(shè)性交流，對(duì)2021年中美海上軍事安全磋商機(jī)制會(huì)議以來的《中美?？障嘤霭踩袨闇?zhǔn)則》執(zhí)行情況進(jìn)行了評(píng)估，討論了改進(jìn)中美海上軍事安全問題的措施。
Wu Qian: Recently, President Xi Jinping spoke with US President Joe Biden on the phone at the request of the US side. The two presidents had a candid and in-depth exchange of views on China-US relations and issues of common interest, charting the course for the development of state-to-state and mil-to-mil relations between China and the US. To implement the important consensus of the two presidents, since the beginning of this year, the two sides have successfully held the 17th Defense Policy Coordination Talks (DPCT), and made steady progress in searching for the remains of missing US military personnel in China during WWII. From April 3 to 4, Chinese and US military officials held the 2024 MMCA working group meeting in Hawaii. On the basis of equality and respect, the two sides had positive and constructive discussions on the current air and maritime safety and security situation between them, and evaluated the execution of the Rules of Behavior for Safety of Air and Maritime Encounters (ROB) since the MMCA in 2021. They also discussed measures to improve military maritime safety and security between the two countries.

Going forward, we hope that the US side can work with the Chinese side in the same direction, strengthen dialogue in a mutually respectful way, manage differences prudently, and advance cooperation in the spirit of mutual benefit, so as to promote a stable mil-to-mil relationship and increase positive expectations about bilateral ties. As for other specific exchange programs, the defense authorities of the two countries are in communication and coordination with each other. We will release relevant information in due course.
